Histoires parallèles

The plot follows Sylvie, a reclusive and irascible novelist (Isabelle Huppert) living in Paris. To find inspiration for her new book, she spies on the neighbors across the street, who are foley artists, and begins weaving a melodramatic and adulterous fiction about their lives . She hires a young man, Adam, to help her with her daily routine. He becomes fascinated with her writing, steals the manuscript, and presents it to the neighbors as his own work. This act causes the fiction Sylvie has imagined to blur with reality, upending all of their lives.
